Milan's metropolitan area is particularly sensitive and advanced when it comes to environmental issues, but due to the intensive economic development and to the particular conformation of the Po Valley (which is surrounded by mountains) there is an important issue of air pollution: the Po Valley is the second most polluted area in Europe.

For this reason the Global Shapers Milan Hub has decided to focus their attention on this environmental priority: being an invisible threat, it is often not perceived as an emergency, but it affects us on a daily basis and it has a major impact on our lives. The Hub aims at spreading awareness, especially among young people, on the issue of the low quality air that we breathe everyday and find possible solutions, from behavioral changes to active citizenship activities.
