Problem statement

From climate change to limiting resource problem to pollution, the environmental challenges this world has been facing for the last few decades are numerous. Our state Manipur is also not immune to the effects of climate change. We have seen problems of a warmer temperature: extinction of numerous endemic species of fishes and plants, problems of disastrous floods and droughts and many more. Another important issue here in Manipur is the problem of diminishing spaces to live. This is the most important year in the most important decade of the entire climate struggle. Want a clean, green and sustainable future? Now is the time. This is the time to choose the future we want.

Project activities

In an attempt to raise awareness about climate crisis and environmental changes, Global Shapers Imphal Hub is developing a project entitled “I see the climate change” with its impact area being climate change and environment. The project aims to raise awareness and knowledge about climate change and its impacts on our environment. The activities under this projects are:

• Organizing a before and after photo contest to depict the changes our environment has gone through as a result of accelerating human activities


• Organizing a photo exhibitions of the collected pictures


• Fund raising for further awareness and activities in educational institutions


• Conduct climate talks

Objectives

With this project, we aim to reach out to the community and impart knowledge and a sense of belongingness to our mother earth and instill an idea of practicing sustainability for a cleaner and greener environment.
