The Amsterdam Global Shapers hub is proud to annouce that Paulette van Ommen is elected to be on the supervisory board of Social Enterprise NL. This organization connects and represents over 300 social entrepreneurs who work on building an inclusive and sustainable, circular economy. The organization offers its members a great community, support programs and increases the visibility of the social enterprise sector in The Netherlands. The organization also advocates - both at national and city level - for an enabling policy environment. The organization's founder was eager to connect with the vibrant network of Global Shapers, and reached out Paulette van Ommen to join the Supervisory Board as of December 2015. Paulette actively took up this ongoing role - a multi-year pro bono commitment - and frequently engages with our hub around the projects, lobbying, events and studies realized by Social Enterprise NL. Examples of members of Social Enterprise NL are TruePrice (founded by Shapers Michel Scholte and Adrian de Groot Ruiz), Instock (food waste enterprise founded by Selma Seddik) and WakaWaka, the social enterprise spreading solar energy to off-grid areas - which Paulette also serves as special advisor to its founders. In 2013-2014, she worked with many hubs on the Shaper-driven SolarforSyria campaign for WakaWaka (securing official endorsements from among other Desmond Tutu and Kofi Annan).
