Joanne holds an Honours Degree in Philosophy and Economics and a Masters of Commerce in Maritime Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She has five years of experience working as an economist for the private and public sector. She was a critical part of the team developing Transnet’s 30-year Port Development Framework Plans and, thereafter, the Tariff Strategy for South African Ports. She also managed and conducted research for several other projects in the areas of tourism, development and agriculture. She authored the annual and quarterly economic intelligence reports for both eThekwini Municipality and iLembe Municipality. Her desire to disrupt the economic research space in South Africa is what led her to found Resource Consultants in February 2016. She is passionate about people, ethics and equality and hopes that her research will contribute to more inclusive, sustainable and authentic solutions for Africa.
