Latinas in Cloud

Problem Statement

In the Chilean context, a structural disparity persists in gender participation in STEM disciplines, an underrepresentation of female role models in technological sectors. This asymmetry not only perpetuates gender inequality, but also limits the diversification of innovative thinking, thus limiting the potential for disruptive innovation and inclusive socioeconomic development.

Target group

Women and girls who are interested in entering STEM careers, or who want to develop skills that will allow them to reinvent themselves in the workplace, such as programming or cloud computing.

Proposed solution

Develop a learning platform that offers certified courses in programming and cloud computing, adapted to different skill levels, in order to promote the inclusion of women in technology.

Hub Activities

  • Create a mentoring network of STEM professionals.

  • Establish and launch a STEM education platform.

  • Open applications for the first version of the training program that includes access to the learning platform and mentoring network.

Short and Long-Term goals

  • Establish a mentoring network with at least 5 STEM professionals willing to guide participants.

  • Establish and launch the education platform with around 50 participants enrolled in the first year.

  • Achieve 75% of participants completing their training with applicable practical projects.

  • Increase participation of women in related careers at UFT in the first year.

Available metrics

  • Number of women enrolled in and graduated from the programs.

  • Increase in the employability of participants.

  • Number of new initiatives or startups led by women.

  • Testimonials and case studies of participants
